May We All Heal Day 1: Imagine

In May, we all heal.

At least, that's the idea.

For the month of May, bereaved parents all around the world find a creative outlet for their grief and share their hearts privately or on social media using the hashtag #MayWeAllHeal and #MWAH2017. (Also, here's a link to the official May We All Heal page on Instagram).

I participated in some small way last year by writing short pieces about the daily prompts intended to inspire us. This year, I have a different plan. I am going to compile a playlist on Spotify, with each song being inspired by the daily prompt.

I have definitely found music to play a part in my healing. There are songs that remind me Ryan is always with me, songs that help me have a good cry when I need it, songs that make me feel happiness, songs for holidays... I'm going to use this May to share some of those songs with you, but also to find new ones.

Follow along here, on my social media pages, and listen to the Spotify playlist as I update it daily with the song of the day. By the end of May the playlist will be full of music intended to help heal hearts and resonate with a grieving heart.

(To find the Spotify playlist you first need a Spotify account. Download the app on a smartphone or computer to get one. Then search "May We All Heal 2017" -- It's the playlist by Amanda Russell)

Day 1 Prompt: Imagine

Song: Imagine Me There
Artist: Ringo Starr

Though I'm sure there are many more obvious 'Imagine" songs out there, I did a little digging today and unearthed this one instead. It's the perfect song to start the month with the message that in all times our lost littles ones are there, protecting us, loving us, with us forever. I love to think that Ryan is with me always.

I especially love the lyric: "Let the dawn break without heartache." It's taken some time, but I am finally in a place where I don't start every day with a heavy sadness. I miss Ryan, I always will, but the horrible ache has lifted and it's such a blessing to start every day with lightness instead of darkness.

Lyrics:
When the curtains move
In breezes unexpected
Don't you worry
You will always be protected.

Imagine me there
When you see the dancing shadows
In the moonlight
You will always have my love
To make it alright.

Imagine me there
Let the dawn break
Without heartache
All our lives
Imagine
Never lonely
Dream and I'll be
By your side
Imagine
Trust in love and love is everywhere
Imagine me there.

When the next room
Feels as far away as China
You can always know, for sure
My love will find you.

Imagine me there...

Sometimes life can be
A fragile occupation
When I think myself in frantic situations
I imagine you there
So imagine me there
Imagine me there.

I love how you're doing things your own way. As one of the creators this year we hoped by simplifying the prompts it would open up the project to new interpretations as it certainly has. Well done I look forward to seeing which songs you add xx
